Maria Aceves seeks to bring nearly a decade of experience, a sound knowledge of our courts, and a genuine commitment to fairness to the 192nd Civil District Court. She is seeking the 2022 Democratic nomination to be the next presiding judge of this important court.
Maria is an award-winning Dallas civil litigation attorney, focusing on personal injury matters, representing injured individuals and their families. She has successfully litigated and resolved numerous cases for her clients. Maria has also handled many guardian ad litem appointments representing minor children's interests in civil cases. Prior to starting her own firm, Maria did civil defense work for several years at a prominent firm and worked at a boutique catastrophic injury firm. She also interned for a civil district court judge in Dallas County, similar to the bench she is seeking. Maria will be ready to serve from day one.
Maria has been selected as one of D Magazine's Best Lawyers for 2022. She has also been named numerous times to the prestigious Super Lawyers Texas Rising Stars List (2019-2021). Maria grew up in North Texas and is a graduate of Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. She is an active member of the Mac Taylor Inn of Court, the Dallas Bar Association, the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, the Dallas Trial Lawyers Association, and the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association. Maria is also board secretary for Avance North Texas, a non-profit organization breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty through innovative two-generation education and support for families and young children. Maria is an active member of the Democratic Party, having worked as a campaign volunteer on Dallas County judicial campaigns.
